Rajasthan Desert Safari,Jaisalmer is a luxury commercial camp cum resort appealingly set in the midst of soft golden sand of Thar Desert.This camp serves modern facilities with warmth and personalized hospitality services.The charm of the desert with an astonishing environment offers a memorable experience.

Location :- Each winter the Rajasthan Desert Safari sets up a camp at the Sam San Dunes on the edge of the Desert National Park. Located in the midst of the Thar Desert,this camp recreates the magical atmosphere of a traditional desert camp on a trade route. Although lying in the midst of the desert, the camp provides for all the comforts required by a modern day traveller.

The accommodation consists of Swiss Cottage type tents with attached baths with running hot and cold water. After spending the day on a camel safari in the Thar Desert, our guests can relax and spend the evening around the campfire, enjoying the live music and dance performances by the "Langha" tribe of professional singers.

Day 1.      Delhi
You will be met by a member of our team at the airport along with car and chauffeur and transferred to the Hotel for overnight stay

Accommodation:
The Imperial Hotel:
The Imperial Hotel has been totally refurbished but maintains its lovely colonial character. The public rooms and corridors are lined with beautiful paintings and lithos along with many restored sepia photographs of times gone by including the Delhi Durbar which was held in 1911. There are two bars, coffee shop with outside dining on the lawns, Indian, South-East Asia and Italian restaurants and a swimming pool.

The Claridges
Totally refurbished, this is now a beautiful boutique hotel in the heart of Colonial Delhi. Beautiful rooms and some really good restaurants make this a lovely start to your Indian visit.

The Hans Plaza.
A small and very centrally located hotel with well furnished rooms, a nice restaurant and a bar on the 21st floor of the building which gives excellent views over the city.

Day 2      Full day in Delhi
Full day sightseeing: The main sights are Old Delhi, Red Fort and the Jama Masjid Mosque, a rickshaw ride through the Chandni Chowk visiting the Spice, Wedding and Silver Markets and the Birla Temple. A drive through New Delhi to see the Parliament Buildings of Sir Edwin Lutyens, India Gate, Humayun's Tomb and Qutub Minar. An English speaking guide will accompany you. Return to your hotel for overnight stay.

Day 3      Delhi - Mandawa
Leave Delhi for the beginning of your tour of Rajasthan.Upon arrival check in at our hotel for overnight stay. Afternoon sightseeing in Mandawa and near by villages to visit the painted Havelis.

Accommodation:
The Desert Resort. This resort is built in the form of a Rajasthani village has a lovely swimming pool for cooling off and affords beautiful views over the surrounding countryside.

The Mandawa Haveli, a recently restored old merchant's house in the village of Mandawa.

Castle Mandawa. This 18th century building is still run by the family and provides a wonderful insight into the heritage of this fascinating area.

Day 4      Mandawa - Bikaner
Morning drive through the Shekhawati towards the desert. Upon arrival check in at your hotel. Afternoon sightseeing in the city of Bikaner to visit the Junagarh Fort. One of the most interesting forts in Rajasthan, it houses the palaces of the royal family and a splendid museum

Accommodation:
Karni Bhawan, once the official guesthouse of the Maharaja of Bikaner, built in pure Art-Deco style.

Lallgarh Palace: In the large Palace complex this red sandstone palace has palatial sized rooms and bathrooms, a billiard room, bar and dining room. Quite old fashioned but the size of the place and the helpful staff make it a worthwhile visit. It also has a lovely indoor swimming pool - quite a bonus!!

Gainer Palace
Gainer Palace was used as a hunting resort by the former Maharajas and visiting British dignitaries during the days of the Raj. Gainer Palace is a Grand Heritage Palace of the HRH Group of Hotels. Spread over 6000 acres, the palace is a 30-minute drive from Bikaner. Gainer Palace was built on the banks of Gainer Lake by Sir Ganga Singh Ji, one of the greatest Maharajas of Bikaner, in the early decades of the twentieth century. 

The red sandstone palace is distinguished for its architectural grandeur and luxuriously appointed suites and rooms. The greenery at Gainer Palace, lawns and the chirping of birds and peacocks make it a truly memorable destination for leisure and corporate travellers.

Day 5      Bikaner - Jaisalmer
Leave after breakfast for your morning drive through the desert to the golden walled citadel of Jaisalmer. Jaisalmer was once a stopping place on the silk route for the caravanserais from China to Saudi Arabia. 

Here you will stay for three nights, which will include, if you wish, a trip out to the desert with camel safari, bonfire, dinner and music. Overnight stay at your hotel

A newly built luxury hotel made of local Jaisalmer stone, this hotel provides very comfortable rooms, bar, restaurant, swimming pool and Ayurvedic massages.

Gorbandh Palace
Gorbandh Palace is ideally located in the desert city of Jaisalmer, distinguished over the centuries for its golden fort or 'Sonar Kila'. Day 6      Jaisalmer
Today we suggest you include a visit to the sandstone Havelis (merchant's houses). The most well known are the Patwon-ki-haveli, Salim Singh-ki-haveli and the Nathmal-ki-haveli. Further interesting sights are the lake, citadels, chhatris (monuments to the Maharajas) Jain Temples, the Fort and of course the bazaars. There are many rooftop restaurants in and around Jaisalmer where you can see the Fort itself, with its 90 turrets fully illuminated at night.

Day 7      Jaisalmer
A trip out to the desert is also suggested on your second day. Leave Jaisalmer late afternoon for the drive out towards the village of Sam / Khuri. Here you can mount camels for a short camel ride which will take you to the sandunes at Sunset Point. Then ride back to the camp where you can have dinner before leaving for Jaisalmer and your hotel for overnight stay. If you wish you can spend the night out in tents here in the desert. Please inform us before hand.

Day 8      Jaisalmer-Jodhpur
After breakfast leave for Jodhpur. Upon arrival check in at your hotel for overnight stay.

Afternoon visit to the magnificent fort palace of Mehrangarh. Perched more than 300 feet above the city, it not only is a fascinating place to visit but affords incredible views over the city, which is painted blue. 

Accommodation:
The Ajit Bhawan Palace. 
Accommodation is in individual cottages and superb tents all built in the extensive gardens. Here, dinner is served out on the lawn at night accompanied by local dancers and folk musicians.

The Taj Hari. 
A newly built hotel but in Indian style. Built around a courtyard housing an outdoor swimming pool, the hotel offers all facilities.

Fortune Ummed:

Day 9      Jodhpur - Ranakpur - Udaipur
Leave Jodhpur after breakfast for the drive south to Udaipur. On this part of the drive you will see some of the most fascinating costumes worn by the Rajasthani ladies and the most colourful turbans worn by the men so have your camera at the ready!

Stop on the way to visit the temples at Ranakpur. These temples were built in the 15th century in a stunning location and set amidst deep forest. Built on 1444 marble pillars, the temple is one of the finest examples of Jain architecture and not to be missed. Overnight stay at your hotel.

The Udai Kothi
A newly built Haveli but you wouldn't guess. Rooms are beautifully decorated and all have A/C. There is a lovely garden and a rooftop pool, bar and restaurant to enjoy the views over Lake Pichola.

The Shiv Niwas Palace Hotel was originally Maharana Fateh Singhji's residence. The rooms around this awe-inspiring courtyard were used as a place for entertaining personal guests. Trident Hilton
It is a modern hotel run by Trident-Hilton Group. The hotel is located on the banks of the picturesque Pichola Lake and is ten minutes from the city centre. You can reach the hotel directly or arrive at Dudh Talai Jetty for a complimentary boat transfer across Pichola Lake. 

The rooms are elegantly furnished and overlooking the landscaped gardens. All rooms have mini-bars, complimentary tea and coffee making facilities with satellite transmission. The hotel has a beautiful swimming pool.

Day 10      Udaipur
Whole day to visit Udaipur. We suggest a morning visit to the City Palace, the Jagdish Temple and the bazaars. Udaipur has many, selling hand made paper books, Indian clothing and silk saris. The town is famous for its art schools where young boys are taught the art of miniature Moghul painting. Return to hotel for overnight stay.


Day 11      Udaipur - Chitorgarh - Kota
Today you will leave after an early breakfast for the drive to Kota, stopping on the way to visit Chittorgarh. It was founded by Bappa Rawal in 8th century and is situated at an altitude of 408 meters above sea level. It crowns a seven-mile- long hill, covering 700 acres (280 hectares), with its fortifications, temples, towers and palaces.

The paces to visit are tower of victory, the Chittorgarh Fort, Vijay Stambha and Kirti Stambha. The Chittorgarh Fort is the indomitable pride of Chittor. The fort is massive structure with many gateways built in 7th century AD and perched on a height of 180 meters hill and sprawls over 700 acres. 

Continue drive to Kota. On arrival check in at your hotel for overnight stay. Monuments to visit in Kota are The Fort, Rana Kumbha Palace, Fateh Prakash Palace, and Tower of Victory & Padmini Palace. Return to hotel for overnight stay 


Day 12      Kota - Bundi - Kota
After breakfast drive to Bundi. Monuments to visit in Bundi are Taragarh Fort, Bundi Palace & Baoris & water tanks. Return to Kota for overnight stay


Day 13      Kota - Jaipur
Today you leave Kota for the morning drive to Jaipur, capital of Rajasthan. This is a busy bustling city where the bazaars spill over on to the streets, to mingle with the handcarts, camels, elephants, scooters, rickshaws and tuk-tuks. It is lively and colourful and painted pink! Rest of the day at leisure and overnight stay at your hotel.

This Hotel is built opposite the Jal Mahal Lake with its palace in the middle of the water. Each morning many elephants will pass your bedroom window on their way to Amber.

Mandawa Haveli
This Haveli is over 100 years old and has been recently refurbished as a small hotel. It has beautiful Indian style rooms with modern bathrooms and is located in the centre of the walled city. Excellent food and a small swimming pool and gardens to boot.

Samode Haveli
The 200 year old Samode Haveli was once the townhouse of the prime minister of Jaipur. It has inside courtyards and a newly added attractive swimming pool within the gardens. Although in a busy part of town it is peaceful inside and very popular with visitors.

Day 14      Jaipur
Whole day to sightsee and shop in Jaipur. Suggest you begin the day with an elephant ride to the Amber Fort Palace, which is spectacular. Later you can visit the City Palace in Jaipur itself, the Hawa Mahal - Palace of the Winds and the Observatory. Jaipur is famous as a centre for carpet weaving - silk and wool - and also for Jaipur blue pottery, but probably best known for its exquisite gems and jewellery. A favourite place for lunch or dinner is the Raj Palace Hotel. Lunch is in the garden or the fabulous dining room and dinner is a BBQ on the terrace.

PLEASE NOTE:
  • Photography in some of the museum and galleries inside the City Palace is not allowed.
  • Due to a fatal accident in Oct 2005 we are no longer recommending the elephant ride at the Amer Fort in Jaipur to our clients. You are strongly requested NOT to take an elephant ride even if one is offered. Anglo Indiago cannot take responsibility for any calamities which occur if the guest decides to take an elephant ride.

Day 15      Jaipur - Fatehpur Sikri - Agra
Today you will leave after an early breakfast for the drive to Agra, stopping on the way to visit Fatehpur Sikri, the deserted capital city of Emperor Akbar. Visit the beautiful Dargah Mosque, the Buland Darwaza and the tomb of Shaikh Salim Chishti. Also the palaces of Akbar's women; Jodh Bal Palace for his Hindu mother, Birbal Bhawan for his favourite courtier and Golden House for his Christian wife. Also make a visit to the Karawan Serai which is a courtyard surrounded by hostels used for visiting merchants, the Paanch Mahal, the Treasury, the Diwan-I-Khas and the Diwan-I-Aam. 

Continue the short drive to Agra for overnight stay at your hotel. Rest of the day at leisure. If you wish you can visit Taj at Sun set. 

Please note that the Taj Mahal is closed every Friday.

Amar Vilas
It is a top end hotel, run by The Oberoi group. The room with balcony faces the Taj Mahal itself, only 600 metres away with unbroken views, the only hotel of its kind. Amar Vilas has unique architecture, elaborate Mughal gardens with terraced lawns and fountains, pools and pavilions. It provides all top facilities including a Spa run by The Banyan Tree Company (Thai).

Howard Park Plaza is very much centrally located. It provides all modern amenities including Swimming Pool, Health Club, Sauna, Steam, Jacuzzi and beauty Parlour.

The hotel cuisine is renowned for its taste and splendour. Howard Park Plaza guests enjoy a view of the Taj Mahal from the rooftop viewing gallery.


Day 16      Agra - Delhi
Morning sightseeing with an English speaking guide. Monuments to visit in Agra are the Taj Mahal, the tomb of Mumtaz, beloved wife of the emperor Shah Jehan, the Red Fort and the exquisite Itimad-ud-Daulah, tomb of the wazir of Emperor Jehangir. 

Afternoon drive back to Delhi. Depending on your flight your driver will drop you at International / domestic Airport for your onward destination
